About me

Who I Am

Hi, I’m Marissa Lane. I’m 34 years old and live just outside Asheville, North Carolina. My kitchen is my favorite place—it’s where things smell like cinnamon, where new ideas are born, and where Let’s Make Recipes began. I’m not a trained chef, just a self-taught home baker who fell in love with making desserts that not only taste great, but feel good too.

Why I Started This Blog

Let’s Make Recipes was born when someone I love—my dad—was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Suddenly, the desserts I loved making weren’t right for him anymore. I didn’t want him to feel left out, and I didn’t want dessert to become a memory.

So, I started experimenting. At first, it was about swapping ingredients—less sugar, more fruit, a spoonful of maple syrup here, a handful of almond flour there. Not everything worked. I’ve made banana breads that collapsed, cookies that could break a tooth, and puddings that stayed liquid no matter how long they chilled. But every failure taught me something—and every success lit a spark. What You’ll Find Here

What You’ll Find Here

Right now, Let’s Make Recipes focuses entirely on desserts—specifically low sugar, naturally sweetened, and high protein treats. Every recipe is designed to be simple, reliable, and full of flavor. You’ll find banana breads sweetened with dates, cookies made with almond flour, and even cheesecakes packed with protein. All tested in my own kitchen, and made with love.

Where We’re Headed

While the site is all about desserts for now, that’s just the beginning. I see Let’s Make Recipes growing into a space that covers all kinds of healthy food—from keto meals and plant-based dinners to nourishing breakfast and snacks. I want this blog to become a go-to for anyone who wants to eat better without giving up what they love.
